What’s in your makeup bag?

This summer the heat has been so insanely crazy here in NOLA for this mid-western girl, that I’ve learned to do a simple look using only a few make-up products. Somehow, over the past year as a newbie to wearing make-up, I’ve managed to become a semi-product junkie thanks to my Ipsy monthly subscription and purchasing so much make-up. I’m pretty organized and keep all of my make-up stored in a compartment styled bag and it does wonders. But since I haven’t been doing a full face all summer, here is what’s currently in my make-up bag:

CONCEALER:

When I tell you that wearing concealer has been my holy grail this summer. I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a beauty influencer stories and she was showing us how she achieved her look with only wearing concealer. I instantly logged on to YouTube University lol to learn how to apply only concealer for a simple, everyday look and my life has been simplified ever since. Currently, I’m wearing the Be Bright (medium beige) concealer by Kokie Professional.

SETTING POWDER:

Setting powder is new to me, but it has really helped the concealer set better on my skin and it gives my skin more of a natural look. I have the Bye Bye Pores Tinted Skin-Blurring Finishing Powder (medium) by It Cosmetics. Setting powders help prevent the concealer and/or foundation from coming off and if you stay in a city where it can get pretty hot, you might want to add setting powders to your make-up bag.

BRONZER:

I’m fairly light-skinned so I have to wear a good bronzer to give my skin that sun-kissed glow and not be out here looking like Casper. I am currently using two bronzers, the Bronzed Rose (100% vegan and cruelty-free) by Pacifica and a bronzer by Ellen Tracy. I blend both of these bronzers together to give me that tropical suntanned look.

BROW PENCIL:

My brows are never on fleek by themselves so having that brow pencil comes in handy. My brows are thin around the arch and so the brow pencil helps my brows look fuller and neatly shaped. I use an eyebrow serum from The Vanity Collection to moisturize my eyebrows and lashes and then I use the Simma Brown (603A) brow pencil by Wet n Wild.

MASCARA:

My lashes are naturally long, so I add just a little mascara to them. I typically use waterproof mascaras by The Color Institute. In the beginning days of wearing mascara, I would apply so much and would notice that my eyes started burning soon afterwards or while I’m in the middle of doing my monthly photoshoots. Now, I apply just a little and it goes a long way and so much easier to remove.

LIPSTICK:

When Vaseline is just not enough, I love wearing a nude or rose-pink lipstick. To me those two shades of lipstick looks great with anything that I wear. In my bag currently, I’m wearing the Matte Suede by Clinique. I love Clinique products and was not surprised that I would also love the brand’s lipstick. You can wear this shade of lipstick to work, day parties or brunch with your girls.

I’m not into those drastic make-up looks, I prefer a simple and natural look every time, so having these products currently in my bag daily, is easy for me to apply in under 10 minutes and I can carry them with me in my purse to touch up throughout the day as needed.
