Choose that One Piece that is Quick and Easy to Style

For me, my go to piece lately is my blazer from Target’s A New Day™ Collection.  I have worn this blazer about five times since I first bought it and I’m not tired of it yet.  I wear it so much because it’s so easy to just throw on with my jeans and t-shirt, my dress pants and dress shirt, my black sheath dress, etc.  Another piece of clothing that I find to be easy to style is my mom jeans from American Eagle.  My jeans are another item that I can wear multiple ways.  I can dress them up with my blazer and a pair of heels or I can dress them down with a white tee shirt and white kicks.  Other pieces that you may have in your closet that are easy to style include turtlenecks (for fall), black dresses, black leather jackets, skinny jeans, white tee shirts, etc.

Stick with Pieces that Flatter your Body

To be honest, this is a tip that should be applied to your personal style constantly.  But as far as creating your own uniform, you definitely want your go to pieces for your personal style uniform to flatter your shape.  They should make you look and feel amazing!  The reason I love to put my blazer on over my jeans and top is because it makes me feel sophisticated and “boss like”.  And my high waist skinny jeans show off my curves while also accentuated my waist.  So decide what pieces in your closet do a great job of showing off your best assets and include those in your uniform.  The best uniforms are ones that make your body look its best.

Also note that the outfit that people compliment you on the most is usually the one that is the most flattering on you.  Keep that in mind when deciding on pieces for your personal uniform.

Look for Pieces that Accommodate Your Lifestyle

I’m a working mom who is constantly on the go.  So whatever I choose to wear on a daily must accommodate my lifestyle.  This is another reason why I like to wear a combination of jeans and blazers a lot; because their stylish, yet they’re both comfortable and practical pieces.  I can still look polished while handling business!  Make sure you take your lifestyle into account when deciding on your pieces for your personal uniform.

Make Sure You Love Everything You’re Wearing

This is also a given, but some of us need to be reminded that personal style is all about what YOU like and love.  It’s not about what’s in.  If you don’t like it, don’t wear it.  It’s that simple.
