Happy Thusrday darlings!! In this week’s I am Greatness feature I am introducing Lead Plublicist, Lindsey Walker of  Mentality PR, checkout her full interview and enjoy 😉

1- Can you tell my readers a little bit about yourself? My name is Lindsey Walker, I am the CEO/Lead Publicist of PR Mentality, LLC- we work with beauty, film, entertainment and lifestyle brands to help increase their visibility and get them into the media.

2- What’s a normal day like for you? I wake up around 9 am, I try my best to start the day off in prayer, then check social media. I like to start working by 10 am. I spend most of my time pitching to the media to garner press, creating strategic plans, securing new business, etc. My laptop, Gmail, and Spotify are my best friends. At night, I spend my time writing out my goals for the next day, scheduling pitches and responding to emails I may have missed earlier.

3- What inspired you to start your business/blog? I’ve always love to write and I love connecting with people. This led me to major in Mass Communications with a minor in Marketing at Jackson State University. I graduated college and was unable to find a job. After 3 months of being unemployed, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start my company. I secured my first 3 clients through Twitter and now almost 5 years later, I have had the pleasure of working on campaigns with Interscope Records artists, BET and more.

4- What are some of the challenges you face as a woman in business? Being a woman in business can be extremely difficult. You have to learn how to balance your professional and your personal life without causing friction between the two. Often times as a young woman in business, it can hard for people to take you seriously. You have to be twice as smart and always stay ahead of the game. Know the ends and outs of your industry and take time out to truly study every aspect of your craft.
5- Running a business is not easy how do you stay motivated? Praying, fasting, listening to podcast, reading books definitely help to keep me motivated. It’s also critical that I listen to myself and to my body when those negative thoughts start to creep in, when I begin to feel burned out or overwhelmed, I know it’s time to take a break.

6-What are three things that no one tells you about being an entrepreneur? Three things that no one tells you about being an entrepreneur…1.) There will be days when you want to quit, but don’t 2.) Entrepreneurship can be very lonely and isolating so when you find people that get you and your vision, hold on to them 3.) Every entrepreneur has their own path to success, don’t let anyone deter you from yours!

7- What advice would you give to your much younger self? Slow down and be still. Every question does not require and immediate answer. Some of your best blessings in life take more time than you’d like for them to, but there is beauty in the journey if only you take a moment to look around.

8-What’s Next For you and your business? We are preparing to work on an amazing film project in addition to continuing our work with beauty and entertainment brands. We also have our PR Girls Do It Better Branding Brunch August 5, 2017, in the Atlanta area for aspiring publicists and women in business to build better brands, gain more visibility, network and enjoy an awesome Southern Brunch! We also plan to head to LA and NYC to expand our brunch workshops in those markets as well.

9- What are some of your favorite inspirational quotes? The race is not given to the swift, but to the one who endures.
10-Any words of advice for aspiring entrepreneurs? Don’t be deceived by what you see on Instagram, reality TV, etc. Building an empire takes time and every mistake is a blessing because it teaches you where and how you should grow. Your success can only be defined by you. Take your time and enjoy every step of the process, as long as you keep running, you are destined to win the race.

Finish this sentence; I am greatness because, of the great God that lives inside of me! Because of His mercy, wisdom and unconditional love, I have all that I need to succeed.
