Making a Major Fashion Comeback: ‘90s Inspired Dresses That Never Go Out of Style
One of the most well loved decades not just in music, but the whole landscape of popular culture, is – once again – making the rounds in the streets and stamping its class as a legitimate fashion staple.
When it comes to the general connotation of the term “history repeating itself,” many of you don’t exactly peg it as a good thing. However, in the fashion industry, this revival of sorts can be somewhat seen as a shortcut to success. Living proof: the 90’s style revolution.
From the likes of Nirvana’s iconic frontman Kurt Cobain, to Gwen Stefani circa 1995, to even Britpop favorites the Spice Girls, the ‘90s is, was, and will always be an era when fashion – no matter how subconsciously – reigned supreme.
The effort – or seemingly lack thereof – to follow certain rules is what separated the era from the ‘70s flamboyance and the ‘80s zeitgeist. And now, this simplicity and effortlessness is what puts the ‘90s back on the map of fashion yet again.
Now is the time to dust off your pre-2000 pieces and rock them out the moment you hit the streets. With that, here are some of the timeless ‘90s dresses that are making a major comeback:
World-renowned fashion model Kate Moss popularized this getup and – in a way – sparked the ‘90s grunge glamor insurgency. Completing this look is a bold berry lipstick and that I-just-got-out-of-bed hairstyle.
You’ve probably saw on the style page of Glamour Magazine or Lyst’s dress section of their website how pop superstar Taylor Swift can really rock a mean plaid outfit. To add to that, you can give Claire Danes a run for her money by upgrading this look with smooth joggers, men’s flats, and, of course, a Lucite neckpiece.
If the grunge band Nirvana and the iconic movie Clueless had an offspring, then it would be in the form of these sleek, long check dresses. Perfect for a not-so-typical girls night out, you can finish this ensemble with metallic loafers, cute stacking rings, and even a biker jacket on top.
Last, but certainly not the least, is a beautiful floral dress that fits perfectly for a Sunday morning brunch. Yet blends well with a fun date night. Add dainty necklaces and whip up nice crown braids, and you’re all set to slay every time.
